Renr vs Zendesk
Zendesk is the reference implementation of a customer support desk: ticketing, omnichannel routing, service level agreements, a multilingual help centre, workforce management and the reporting a support director needs to run a team against targets. Renr is an all-in-one operations app for Indonesian SMBs — point of sale, bookings, CRM, tasks, team chat, accounting, a unified WhatsApp/Instagram/Facebook/Telegram inbox with AI auto-reply, commerce and a website builder — billed in Rupiah, with the shop floor licensed per branch and the head office, where the inbox and the AI live, priced per user at Rp 500,000 a month with a three-seat minimum. Zendesk is built for a support organisation. Renr is built for a business that answers its customers itself, usually on WhatsApp, between serving them.
When Zendesk is the right choice
Pick Zendesk if support is a department with headcount, response targets and a manager watching the queue.
- Suite Professional at $115 per agent/month billed annually carries SLAs, skills-based routing and conditional ticket fields.
- The Workforce Engagement add-on at $50 per agent/month covers forecasting, shift scheduling and quality assurance.
- The self-service help centre localises into 40+ languages from Suite Team upward.
- Higher tiers add HIPAA enablement, data-centre location choice and advanced encryption.
- Renr has none of that depth — no SLA engine, no help centre builder, no agent-level reporting.
When Renr is the right choice
Pick Renr if customers reach you on WhatsApp and money arrives over a counter or a booking slot.
- The HQ plan at Rp 500,000 per user a month — minimum 3 seats, so Rp 1.5 million to start — includes the WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Telegram inbox with AI auto-reply.
- AI replies sit inside that price; Zendesk meters resolutions at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go beyond the allowance.
- Three Renr HQ seats are Rp 1.5 million a month; three Suite Professional agents are $345 a month billed annually, and Zendesk prices Copilot, WEM and Contact Center per agent on top of that.
- Point of sale, bookings, CRM and accounting come in the same subscription — Zendesk sells none of them.
- Billed in Rupiah via QRIS or bank transfer with faktur pajak; Zendesk supports USD, EUR, GBP and BRL.

The honest verdict
This one splits by whether support is a department. Zendesk is the enterprise support standard — SLAs, skills-based routing, workforce management, a 40-language help centre, agent-level reporting — and if you are running a queue against targets, nothing in Renr replaces it. The cost of that is structural rather than a matter of opinion: every agent is a paid seat, there is no free tier, the useful tier for most support teams is Suite Professional at $115 per agent/month billed annually, add-ons are priced per agent again, AI resolutions are metered beyond the included allowance at Zendesk’s published $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go, and the whole thing is invoiced in USD. Renr covers the other case — a small Indonesian team answering WhatsApp between serving customers — and it prices the head office per person: Rp 500,000 a user with a three-seat minimum, so Rp 1.5 million a month, puts the inbox, the AI replies, the cash register, the booking calendar and the books on one bill in Rupiah, paid by QRIS or bank transfer with faktur pajak — against $345 a month for the same three agents on Suite Professional, before a single add-on. That matters where roughly 5.9% of Indonesian adults hold a credit card (World Bank Global Findex 2024) while QRIS has 61.7 million users and 44 million merchants (Bank Indonesia, Q1 2026), and a USD subscription is exposed to a reference rate of about Rp 17,636 per dollar (Bank Indonesia JISDOR, 4 September 2026). Count your agents, then count your outlets and your head-office seats; the answer usually falls out of that.
